Vallibel Power Erathna PLC is a BOI-approved public quoted company in Sri Lanka. We have entered into a power purchase agreement with the national utility corporation, the Ceylon Electricity Board for a period of 15 years from July 2004. The company enjoys a 10 year tax holiday and, therefore, our investors' returns are free from income tax during this tax holiday.
In terms of Section 17(2) of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Law No. 4 of 1978, the business, capital or assets belonging to the Company are not liable to acquisition, expropriation and/or nationalization.
The other incentives include free transferability of shares of the Company to residents or non-residents without being subject to exchange control and other tax levies.
We are mindful of the fact that our investors should get the maximum benefit during the tax holiday and accordingly the Board is very keen to distribute the surplus of the Company to the shareholders to the maximum extent possible.
