Country Energy (Pvt) Limited which is in the process of constructing two Hydro Power Projects, the Denawaka Ganga Hydro Power Project with an installed capacity of 7.2 MW and the Kiriwaneliya Hydro Power Project with an installed capacity of 4.65 MW, is a fully owned subsidiary of Vallibel Power Erathna PLC.
The Denawaka Ganga Hydro Power Project is located in the Ratnapura District and is using the water of the Denawaka Ganga at Duraikanda in the Ratnapura District. It is estimated to cost Rs.1,124 million on completion.
The Kiriwaneliya Hydro Power Project is located at Norton Bridge in the Nuwara Eliya District and is utilizing the water after the Laxapana fall. The project is estimated to cost Rs.815 million on completion.
These two projects will almost double the installed capacity of the holding Company, Vallibel Power Erathna PLC and the holding Company would have contributed for the construction of these two projects Rs.790 million as equity. The remaining funds are expected to be raised as debt.
