As part of its clean energy expansion strategy, Vallibel Power Erathna PLC (VPE) has commissioned a 10 MW ground-mounted Solar PV Project connected to the Matara Grid Substation. The project was implemented in two 5 MW phases, namely Dolahena Estate Ground Mounted Solar PV Project I and II, and is a Board of Investment (BOI) approved project.
Located in Kekanadura, Matara, the project utilizes 30 acres of land for solar power generation. Since its commissioning on 10 September 2025, the plant has been delivering clean and reliable electricity to the national grid.
The solar facility generates approximately 20 GWh of renewable energy annually, offsetting around 13,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions each year. This project represents a significant milestone in VPE’s renewable energy diversification strategy and strengthens its contribution to Sri Lanka’s low-carbon energy transition.
